The Heart Of Texas Chorus and the Texas State University Friends
of Fine Arts and Communication are proud to present the 8th annual “United We Sing”
Concert. Featuring some of the finest musical talent in Central Texas, this free
concert will pay tribute to America’s military and the heroes and victims of the
events of 9/11/01. A tradition of the two-hour concert is the always inspiring Community
Chorus. All singers, male and female, are invited to join this group, (which has
numbered as many as 160 voices in the past) in rehearsal on Thursday, September
2 and Thursday, September 9, from 7:30 to approximately 8:15 p.m. in room 222 of
the Music Building at the corner of Sessom and North LBJ on the campus of Texas
State University. The Community Chorus will perform “The Star Spangled Banner” to
open the concert and “America, the Beautiful” to close it. Charts and learning tracks
are available under the tab, “UWS” on this page. So, church choir members, high
school or college singers, garage bands, soloists, great shower singers, come join
the Community Chorus and lift your voices and spirits as we celebrate our great
country.
Also featured in the concert will be: The Heart Of Texas Chorus,
Sterling, Dr. Richard Cheatham, The Marcsmen, Varsity, Amy Madison, The Texas State
University Singers, Vanguard, the Hill Country Youth Chorus, Nathan Villarreal,
Celeste Villarreal, Colton Windham, Catherine Clarke, Reed Neal, and the Texas State
Brass.
